    2025 2nd Place Emily Xu 2025 1st Place Nassim Stegmat Now Accepting Abstract Submissions! All residents, fellows, medical students, PAs, and nurses are invited to submit an abstract! This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience presenting research and to network with residents from Pennsylvania residency programs. There will also be opportunities to network with attendings, program directors, chairs of the state’s neurosurgery programs, and colleagues who practice in a variety of career settings in this region. Submitted abstracts may address basic or clinical research, interesting clinical cases, novel educational programs, or any other topic that would be of potential interest to your colleagues and meets the following educational outcome: apply risks and benefits of new technology to decisions regarding surgical procedures to achieve better patient outcomes.     About Us MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society is to advance patient centered care by supporting the professional interests of neurosurgeons within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. By fostering collaboration amongst colleagues, promoting innovation, and providing opportunities for education, the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society aims to promote excellent patient care delivered by neurosurgeon-led teams, including nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, residents, fellows, and all health care providers. Member Log In Become a Member BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP Annual Meeting Education - The PNS conducts a two-day annual meeting each July at The Hotel Hershey in Hershey, PA, which highlights new developments in Neurosurgery. Discounted Meeting Rate - Members pay a discounted registration fee versus a non-member fee. Reduced rates are also available for Residents/Nurses/Students. For additional information, please refer to our Meetings page . Communications E-mail communications address urgent and timely issues of importance. The PNS Executive Committee has approved a new membership service to connect PNS members to educational opportunities being conducted/convened/hosted by other PNS members and their respective institutions. Only PNS members will be able to use this service to promote their educational programs to other PNS members. The society’s website and social media platforms will be used to share the information with PNS members. No emails will be sent to members, nor will the PNS membership list be shared or sold. Active membership in the Society shall be open to those qualified neurosurgeons who meet all of the following criteria: Licensed to practice Medicine and Surgery within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certification by, or eligibility (as defined by the applicable entity) for certification by, the American Board of Neurological Surgery, American Board of Osteopathic Surgery, or Royal College of Surgeons of Canada Engaged in the active practice of Neurosurgery within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Have good professional, moral and ethical standing in the community Provisional | $300 Provisional membership is open to those Neurosurgeons who, at the time of application, have met all of the criteria for Active membership except for involvement in the exclusive practice of Neurosurgery within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Upon the majority vote of the Council, Provisional membership status shall be granted for a term of one year. At the conclusion of one year, a provisional member who meets all of the criteria for Active membership shall be eligible for Active membership at the next general business meeting. Corresponding | $300 Corresponding membership shall be open to practicing physicians, otherwise qualified under the criteria for Active membership, but who reside outside of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Corresponding members shall enjoy all the privileges of membership except those of voting and holding office. Corresponding members are subject to dues and assessments. Affiliate | $50 Affiliate members shall enjoy all the privilege of membership except those of voting and holding office. Affiliate members are subject to dues and assessments established by vote of the membership from time to time and must be: A physician, neuropsychologist, nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or neuroscientist Practicing his or her profession within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Sponsored by an Active Member Resident/Fellow | $0 Resident/Fellow membership in the Society is open to those residents/fellows in training in Neurological Surgery in an AMA or AOA approved residency/fellowship in Neurological Surgery.
